February 2017 Prompt Request

Time for a prompt request for the month of February. It is my natal month and I am aiming for a posting a day, at least.

Because I have The Day Job, other things that need/want to be posted, and etcetera, there is a limit of one prompt to be written per prompter this month.

This month’s prompt request is themeless so within the rules below give me a character, a phrase or a setting so I can write you 300 to 500 word piece of fiction.

Signal boosting will get you a 200 to 250 word extension to the piece of your choice.

Certain levels of patron over on Patreon will get a 250 to 500 word extension on a piece of their choice.

You may throw some money at me for an extension through the Paypal button below.

There are some rules.

• Please don't ask for main story Nai as your prompt - more Nai writing will happen each weekend;

• One prompt per prompter; and

• No erotica (I need to be in the mood) and no fanfic (I would mangle your favourite characters to no satisfactory result.)

Thank you for your participation and let’s go have some fun with this.

Oh, so's mine. In fourth and fifth grade my cursive was horrible, and I gradually moved to print-script: writing the printed letters, at a slant, beginning to join them... and I reinvented chancery cursive. Later I got into real calligraphy... and that got me my first real job (making charts for Nielsen before there was such a thing as computer graphics) because I knew how to handle a Speedball dip pen.

Oh BTW, here's why whatever you've put at the end of your first paragraph is meaningless to me and probably most of your readers:

U+F04A PRIVATE USE CHARACTER – Codepoints

U+F04A is a Unicode codepoint in the block “Private Use Area”. It is a so-called “private use” codepoint, deliberately not assigned to any character.

«Time for a prompt request for the month of February. It is my natal month and I am aiming for a posting a day, at least. »

I see that ending in "at least" followed by a period, a space, and a solid black rectangular block, two characters wide in the monospace font I see while editing my comment, that fills the line height from baseline to top but doesn't use the descender space. I know it's a single block, rather than two side by side and touching, because when I move my insertion cursor one character at a time, when it reaches this block its next move takes it to the other side rather than the middle.

I've copied the block and pasted it at the beginning of two lines in a row, surrounded by pointers above, below, and on the right but not the left:

Yup, it's gone. Whatever you did, it worked.

<nod> Changing interfaces always involves a learning curve, and that's extra frustrating when it's re-learning how to do something you already knew how to do (in a different context). I usually admit up front that I'm going to hate $newthing for at least the first three days (sometimes rather longer), and try not to pass judgement on it too loudly until the annoying newness wears off at least a bit.

Not that I'm aware of! Is this a Story? :)
