This is my response to Day 11 of http://aldersprig.livejournal.com/'s 30 Days of Flash Fiction, the list for which can be found at http://aldersprig.livejournal.com/221684.html?view=1245940#t1245940

Spiral galaxies colliding, two coils of stars and gas burning with silent violence at their intersection but emerging beyond their joining unchanged. Almost.

We circle a pale ice green gas giant world in silence, admiring the swirls of the weather patterns in her frigid depths, weaving among her multiple moons.

Deepening chords lead in a stream of meteorites that obliterate the planet leaving behind only gas, dust and small rocks. Following back along the meteoric trail we come to – a god, ironclad and stern.

Bring in the plaintive strings singing of heartbreak.

Over his shoulder behind him we see a star with its solar system, including a blue planet in the third orbit, coming towards us. Shift position to look the other way over his shoulder and we are moving towards another sun and its solar system, including a blue planet in the third orbit.

Cue the martial music.

Cut between two war councils distinguished only by the details of face, dress and furnishings. One is addressed by a tall goddess in a black chiton, hair pulled severely back. The other is presided over by a rubenesque god, his head bearing a wreath of vine leaves and a rooster on his shoulder. Their mouths are almost in synch. Gods come and go on appointed tasks. Attacks are made. Faces disappear from both rosters.

The musical tempo quickens. The action on the screen becomes more frantic. In the war council of the black chitoned goddess the ironclad god is given a task. When he leaves, another god dressed in shadows and a leather mask comes to see their goddess leader. He carries a quiver of black shafted arrows.

We see the vine wreathed god fall to the floor with a black shafted arrow in his back and the trailer ends.
