I'm surprised that Slinderin kept his connection with the god. It looks like the god is too, which suggests a non-omnipotent god. Further, the god not knowing what Slinderin has been up to nor where he is suggests a non-omniscient god as well. Intriguing!

The god getting not only a tour but an explanation from Slinderin should help the god figure out what to do with both the town and with Slinderin.

This sounds like an opening to a potentially much longer story, and one I'd quite like to read.
