This follows on from the first three Witching Hour pieces and, like them, it was written in response to the Thimbleful Thursday prompt "The Witching Hour."

Iris Gittoes stoked up the fire, the last of the season from the way the weather was warming up, then settled into her comfy chair under the work light she used for knitting, sewing or reading in front of the television. A cup of tea with two oatmeal biscuits in the saucer sat on the small table beside her. At this hour the television was off, anything she wanted to watch over, so she sat watching her cat wash itself in front of the dancing flames as she drank her tea, nibbled on her biscuits, and felt the man outside prod uselessly at decades’ worth of wards and other defences.
